Fall
GROUP TOUR/FIELD TRIP OVERVIEW
A group tour or field trip typically takes 1.5 hours for the guided portion of the tour, but the actual length of time is dependent on the size of the group. You should allow extra time for playtime and lunchtime. We try to schedule groups so that you have ample opportunity to play and enjoy the picnic area. Depending on the time of your tour, your playtime and/or lunchtime might occur before your tour. All of this can be discussed at the time your tour is being scheduled.
All of the activities listed below are available six days a week. For tours during the week, the tour is guided up to play time. On Saturdays, the tour starts with story time and the rest of the “tour” is at your pace. Travel the pumpkin patch whenever you are ready – the hayrides go continuously on Saturdays!
For walk-in guests during the fall, you may blend with a group story time if you choose to. Otherwise, all of the fall season activities are available Monday through Saturday for you to enjoy. While hayrides are available throughout the day (until dark), our walk-in guests may have to wait on hayrides until our scheduled groups have taken their rides. If there is room, you may join their rides, but if not, please enjoy the farm until our drivers are finished taking our groups out.
As you plan your visit, walk-in guests will find that weekday afternoons are usually the quietest times on the farm in the fall. School groups have returned to school by about 1 pm and there are fewer other guests during the afternoons/early evenings.

HISTORY OF FALL TOURS
In the Fall of 2000, we opened Christian Way Farm simply to offer field trips for the local schools. Little did we know that they would become so popular and that we would be able to open the farm 6 days a week for groups and individuals to come visit. We have come a long way from that first field trip with a few borrowed animals, a storybook, a pumpkin patch and corn maze.
PUMPKIN PRICES
Pumpkins are NOT included in general admission or combo pricing. Whether picked from the patch or from around the barn, they may be purchased in the Christian Way Farm store, or when available, in the cafe or clubhouse. Pricing for standard orange pumpkins ranges from $4 to $9 in the patch. There are larger decorative pumpkins in the patch that will be priced differently than the orange pumpkins.
Around the barn/store we also have larger pumpkins, decorative stacking pumpkins, gourds and other fall decorations (straw bales, large and mini), corn stalks and Indian Corn, all available for purchase.
FIELD TRIPS
Teachers, we make every effort to make the fall tour educational in nature to make your field trip an integral part of your overall education plan. In the past, we have attempted to match our lessons with curriculum requirements, but those change faster than we can keep up with. Please ask us if you need details or adjustments to support your lesson plans.
ACTIVITIES
STORY TIME
Janie will spend time with your group, talking about how pumpkins grow, how to shell and grind the corn to feed the animals, and her special story about God’s love.
CORN–SHELLING
Then it’s time for shelling corn, grinding it and feeding the animals.
TRACTOR RIDING
Off to the pumpkin patch by the tractor wagon ride. The driver will unload you at the entrance to the corn maze and pick you up in the pumpkin patch.
PUMPKIN PATCH
Pumpkins of all sizes are ready for your group to pick. For group tours only, the pumpkin is included in the student pricing. (Walk-in visitors and adults with group tours must purchase their pumpkins. They may pick from the field or the barn and pay at the store.)
PLAYTIME
No trip to the farm is complete without playtime—corn trucks, lawnmower train, hay castle (fall only), tricycle track, giant Jenga and giant Scrabble, Gaga ball, playground and plenty of open space for free play. The corn truck will be available for children to play in like a giant sandbox. We encourage removing shoes as one steps into the corn box or your shoes will be full of corn!
There are ample areas for playing ball or other games teachers may want to do to encourage expending energy! We keep a supply of balls available for our visitors’ use. The tricycle track will be available as well as a small swing set for our youngest visitors.
